The 176 plates of woodcuts are reproduced one to a page, some in black, some in red. The comprehensive 29 page introduction by John Rewald is a complete history of the art of the woodcut during the 20th century and includes reference to, and illustrations by, Burne-Jones, Charles Ricketts, William Morris, Walter Crane, Charles Shannon, Camille & Lucien Pissarro and Gauguin.
