Blue cloth with gilt titles to front cover. Name to front endpaper dated 1930. "Dissected in the Character of A Ship of War as also The Characters of all the Officers, from the Captain to the Common Sailor." Ned Ward (1667 - 1731) also known as Edward Ward, was a satirical writer and publican in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century based in London. He was also an innkeeper where he encountered all nautical disciplines and documented their tales of the sea with satire.
