London: W. Strahan [and 21 others], 1784. This is a Very Good copy of "A New Edition, in Ten Volumes, To which is now added, The Fathers; or, The Good-Natured Man." A large, heavy octavo, bound in leather, with both covers ruled in gilt. The spine is highly decorated in gilt, with a red label for the gilt title. Clean text; frontis engraving, 512 pages. [There is also a second engraving, of Fielding.] Marbled endpapers, with an armorial bookplate on the front paste-down. The contents are the "Essay on the Life and Genius of Henry Fielding, Esq."; "Love in Several Masks, A Comedy"; "The Temple Beau, A Comedy"; 'The Author's Farce; with a Puppet-shew, called the Pleasures of the Town"; 'The Coffee House Politician; or, The Justice caught in his own Trap, A Comedy"; and "The Tragedy of Tragedies; or, The Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great." Covers are lightly worn at the margins, with corners bumped to a fray. The spine is darkened and rubbed, with the gilt dulled [titling is still readable], and a chip to the head.. First Thus. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
