John Dryden (1631 - 1700) was an English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who was made Poet Laureate in 1668. He is seen as dominating the literary life of Restoration England to such a point that the period came to be known in literary circles as the Age of Dryden. Walter Scott called him "Glorious John." Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet FRSE (1771 - 1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright, and poet, popular throughout much of the world during his time. George Edward Bateman Saintsbury (1845 - 1933), was an English writer, literary historian, scholar, critic and wine connoisseur. Rebound in cloth with amateur spine labels. Externally, generally smart but with slight wear to extremities and odd marks to boards and slight cockling to cloth to spines. Internally, firmly bound. Bright and generally clean but with the odd spotting to text block edges and slight handling marks. Very Good Indeed
