About This Item
"There were 221 rank and file who left the United States with Company I for foreign service May 10th, 1918; 215 men and 6 officers. Up to the time of the Armistice we received 34 replacements all told. The Company lost 64 killed or died of wounds, and had 93 wounded, 5 injured in action and 4 captured. A total of 166 casualties." -- Excerpted from the opening paragraph.
A rare and quite moving printed testament to the men of Company "I", from the 7th Regiment of the New York National Guard. The Hindenburg Line Battle in September of 1918, in which so many of these men were lost, was the last great battle of World War I.
