About This Item

April, 1931., 1931.. Good. THIS COMPANY OF 221 MEN SUFFERED 166 CASUALTIES DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR - Octavo, a 9 inch high by 6 inch wide 4-page pamphlet listing the casualties sustained in 1918 by Company I, 107th Infantry of the American Expeditionary Force in France during the First World War. The bottom left corner of the first leaf and bottom front corner of the second leaf are very lightly creased. The edges of the cover leaves are slightly toned and there is a tiny insignificant horizontal tear at the fold. Very good.

"There were 221 rank and file who left the United States with Company I for foreign service May 10th, 1918; 215 men and 6 officers. Up to the time of the Armistice we received 34 replacements all told. The Company lost 64 killed or died of wounds, and had 93 wounded, 5 injured in action and 4 captured. A total of 166 casualties." -- Excerpted from the opening paragraph.

A rare and quite moving printed testament to the men of Company "I", from the 7th Regiment of the New York National Guard. The Hindenburg Line Battle in September of 1918, in which so many of these men were lost, was the last great battle of World War I.
