Philadelphia: Porter & Coates, 1876 By Jules Verne, the story of the final voyage of British sailing ship the Chancellor, told from the perspective of one of its passengers (in the form of a diary). At the beginning of its voyage, the Chancellor carried eight passengers and twenty crew members. By the end, only eleven people (five passengers and six crew) remained alive. Alta Edition. Condition notes: 358 numbered pp + period ads; HB. Pages: clean, ivory, tight, tan eps, frontis; PO decorative bookplate to front eps, PO info inked and dated 1892 to ffep, front hinge cracked but intact, a.e. well sunned, t,e. dusty. Cover: brick decorative cloth, black/reverse embossed ornamentation front/spine, reverse titles front, black titles to gilt spineblock; modest shelfwear, extrems somewhat worn, back and extrems modestly rubbed, light spot to spine.
