About This Item

Cazenovia, NY: Gleaner Press, 1966. Marx, Robert. Octavo. 12pp + 9 inserted plates etched and hand-printed by Marx and signed by him. Of an edition fo eighty copies, this is one of fifteen specially bound. The artist, the translator, and the binder have all signed the colophon. These punctuate Eva Thoby-Marcelin's translation of Maupassant's short story, which narrates the desperation of a legless man in his plight against social ostracism and negligence. Bound by Ivan Ruzicka in quarter vellum with marbled papers over boards. Some rubbing to corners, else near fine in paper slipcase.
