Indenture between John Salwey, The Moor, Salop, and his wife Elizabeth of the first part; Richard Salwey, Fearn Hall, Salop (eldest son of John Salwey) of the second part; Job Walker Baugh, Fearn Hall and Isabella his daughter of the third part; John Bayley, Leominster, hereford, Gentleman and William Radcliffe of Oxford Street, Saint Mary le Bone, Middlesex, Confectionerof the fourth part; and the Reverend Doctor Folliott Herbert Walker Cornewall, Dean of Canterbury and Job Walker Baugh the younger, Corfton, Diddlebury, Salop, Clerk of the fifth part.

Royston, Hertfordshire: No Publisher, 1828. Part printed, part manuscript apprenticeship indenture, approximately 250mm x 205mm in size. Slightly water stained to top right hand corner, but no loss of sense, central horizontal crease, but generally quite bright and clean. Standard apprenticeship indenture between William Hinkins, aged thirteen years "and upwards", with the consent of his mother Catherine Hinkins of Bassingbourn, and George Rivers Higgins of Royston, Hertfordshire, plumber, glazier coach and house painter, for seven years, dated the 31st December 1828, with the usual warnings against bad behaviour, "he shall not commit fornication nor contract Matrimony within the said Term, he shall not play at cards or Dice Tables ... he shall not haunt Taverns or Playhouses". With the tax stamps and wax seals, quite an attractive example. First Edition. Unbound. Good. 8vo (Oblong). Ephemera.

Lightly browned and slightly creased with central horizontal fold, details of agreement to reverse in ink, but generally in good order. William Brown, aged sixteen, with the consent of his father Simon Brown of Heydon, Essex, a shepherd, binds himself apprentice to George Machon of Barkway, Herts., as a boot and shoemaker, for five years, signed by those involved with wax seals, also included is a small piece of paper noting that this expires at Michaelmas 1832 and at that time to be given up to the apprentice, with the mark of George Machon. Gloucester Archives have the Probate copy of the will of Thomas HORT of Westbury upon Trym, yeoman. Dated 21 June 1712 and (Proved 7 September 1728). 600x750mm approx. Folded. Marked and stained, a little loss at the point of some of the folds.
