Many with Frank Hamilton cover art. This run includes the Ray Bradbury and H.P. Lovecraft Issues, the latter (No.19) with the RARE Arkham House flyer for Frank Belknap Long's "HPL: Dreamer on the Nightside" published Dec. 1975. Started in March 1974 by Nils Hardin, Xenophile was mainly devoted to science fiction, although it also published outstanding mystery issues, several of which were devoted to pulp detectives and contained bibliographies. Xenophile lasted 45 issues until March 1980. As a lot Near Fine, due to longtime storage several issues are wavy. . First Printing. Magazine. Advance copy of an acerbic speech by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes, in which he levels sustained, withering criticism of certain newspaper columnists (or "calumnists," as he calls them). He singles out Westbrook Pegler as well as General Hugh Johnson, both fierce opponents of President Roosevelt. (Johnson worked briefly in the Roosevelt administration but was fired because of his Fascist sympathies.) On the other hand, he praises the great Heywood Broun: "Here is a genial philosopher who declines to take himself too seriously and yet one who never pulls his punches, even if he chuckles as he lands on an eagerly outstretched chin."
