About This Item

New York, New York, USA: HarperCollins Publishers, 1990. BI6 - A trade paperback withdrawn ex-library book in very good condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color illustrated tan wraps with very minor overall shelf wear plus the usual library marks, stamp, and pocket on the front and back endpapers and title page plus a remainder mark on the bottom outside paper edges plus some very light yellowing of the outside paper edges. A bittersweet novel about a boy's growing up in Los Angeles during World War II and 1943 specifically. This author is noted for a somewhat dark perception of his characters' responses to the human condition, but also that good things happen in the world too, often when they are least expected. By the author of "Under the Wheat," "The Burning Women of Far Cry," and "The Comint Triumps of the Free World." 174p.. Trade Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
