Information is first presented on the state of signature and ratification of the Convention and its protocols. The control mechanism of the Convention is then dealt with in two chapters, the first of which deals with the activities of the European Court of Human Rights and the second with the supervision by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe of the execution of judgments of the Court. The final section reports on other work of the Council of Europe in the field of human rights, including the activities of the Committee of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly, and the Directorate General of Human Rights and the Rule of Law. The appendixes contain bibliographical information, biographies of new judges elected to the Court, and "action reports" as provided by Respondent States. With the exception of the "action reports," all material is presented in French and English on facing pages (the "action reports" are either one or the other language, depending on the respondent's submission).
