A clash of the old and the new, where European Jewry emigrating to New York City, found the old ways did not sit comfortably in the new world. The book is probably the first book written in English about the Jewish experience in New York City's East Side. Creasing to the book corners and there are some creases to the front book panel. Browning of the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper. Some staining to the top right-hand corner of the same page. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series.
