About This Item
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1926. Cloth. Near Fine. A tight, very sharp copy of the September 1926 1st edition of this immortal, pre-Depression look into the underground lives of hobos, thieves, grifters, etc., mostly set in the Bay Area. Tight and VG+ to Near Fine in clean bright-red boards, with pristine gilt-titling along the spine. Even offsetting at the endsheets, just a touch to the rear pastedown too. The text crisp and immaculate. 12mo, the profound influence of this book on a young William Burroughs has been often-cited. Lacking the scarce dustjacket.
