New York: A. S. Barnes, 1872. Hardcover. Fair. Brown cloth-covered boards are mottled and worn. The cloth and part of the boards are worn away at the front corners and part of the bottom edge of front board. A half-inch of the cloth is missing from the bottom spine edge. Front past down is a calendar graph for a student to record class standing throughout the year. The student's name is in pencil at the top. The free-front endpaper lists the catalogue of the National Series of Text Books. Pages are foxed but otherwise unmarked. This is not a print-on-demand book. We found no others online. The preface explains the reason for the book is to teach the "practical principles that underlie the workings of all ordinary business transactions, and much more, of the government of the state or nation," which hadn't to this point been taught. The format is questions posed followed by the answers.
