Alfred A. Knopf. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1957. First Edition. Hardcover. Ex-school library book. The pages are clean, no tears or soiling. The pages and binding are tight. The synopsis from the dust jacket has been glued onto the first blank page covering part of the school library's stamp. The other stamp on that page has been covered-up with a purple marker as were the school stamps on the top and bottom page ends. There is a light purple X covering a stamp on the middle end of the pages. There is a number stamped at the bottom of the last numbered page. The card pocket was glued onto the inside of the back cover and was removed leaving traces of glue that have turned a deep yellow. Above this is the book's Dewey decimal coding. On the last page it looks like the Due Date sheet was attached with freezer tape or something similar as part remains. ; Ex-Library; Drawings; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 246 pages; Cuzco, capital of the Inca Empire, is the scene of boiling intrigue and danger in the year 1450, as young prince Cusi leads his first campaign against aggressive enemies. He is fighting to protect his people, to prove his courage, and to establish his right to be the future ruler, the next Inca. Battles, hardships, romance, and adventure finally teach Cusi the one important law for ruling the empire -- that war must sometimes be waged, but only to bring peace where otherwise it would not be. Although Cusi must lead his men in war, he learns that the arts of building, repairing, teaching, and healing must be part of his leadership to ensure a flourishing empire. Line Drawing illustrations by William Moyers abound throughout the book. Will combine shipping on more than one book. .
