In this deeply personal book, Ruth recounts the chilling experiences of a young Jewish girl in a war-torn country, the courage of simple, ordinary people from the French countryside who protected her and her family. The Kapps fled from one home to another, avoiding capture with the help of non-Jewish locals and of the Resistance network. Ruth, however, was suddenly separated from her family and hidden in a Catholic convent, allowed no contact with or news of her family. They were finally reunited in the closing months of the war.
