University: U. Of Alabama Press, 1951. D.j. (browned edges & spine), 128 pp., frontis. Cotton enlisted April 1, 1862 in Co. C, 5th Battalion, Hilliard's Legion, Alabam Cavalry and remained a private throughout the war. He was a land owner with a small farm and no slaves. His letters describe army life and the campaigns as well as advising his wife on running the farm. Scarce.. 1st.. Near Fine/Very Good.
