Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1951. First edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. Taylor [1784-1850] was the 12th President of the United States, and died 16 months into his presidency. He was called 'Old Rough and Ready' during his military career which extended from 1808 to1847. Sml 4to (9.5"), red cloth boards, gilt title on spine and signature on front cover. 496 pp, bw frontispiece portrait and 18 additional bw illustrations. Spine sunned, some pencil markings near text, internally clean, binding tight - a very nice copy.
