The text is illustrated with two, of four pages each of black-and-white photographs. Colour illustrated paperback binding (wraparound), with white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The title says it all – how the son of a village blacksmith became the leader of Italy at age 29, and dead (along with his mistress) at age 62, reviled by all. A previous owners' rubberstamp to the top edge of the verso of the front panel and to the lower edge of the title page. Creasing to the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels. Reading creases to the back strip; with remnants of a sticker to be seen to the lower edge. Fading of the back strip with uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages.
