Large 8vo, 9.75 x 7.75 inches, publisher's dark blue cloth with color onlay to front, good with some rubbing and wear to spine ends, corners, scattered surface abrasions and nicks to the onlay, front inner hinge neatly strengthened but weirdly colored, all 10 color plates by Parrish collated present, text good to very good, slightly toned and with some foxing to the majority of the plates.

Boards and spine are straight. Binding is tight. Front end sheet and paste down split in gutter. Antiquated gift inscription on front end sheet dated "xmas1910". Very modest foxing to frontispiece border. Color plates very good and protected by tissue except Cadmus plate and tissue detached and laid-in with some light tattered along outer edge where it was stored slightly sticking out. Pages are lightly toned with very sparse thumbing but in very good condition. .

A Wonder-Book for Girls and Boys (1852) is a children's book written by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne in which he rewrites myths from Greek mythology. It was followed by a sequel, Tanglewood Tales for Boys and Girls. The stories are all stories within a story, the frame story being that a Williams College student, Eustace Bright, is telling these tales to a group of children at Tanglewood, an estate in Lenox, Massachusetts, where Hawthorne lived for a time.
