Münster: Bernard Raesfeld, 1666 In-12, [2] ff, 230 pp, [1] ff. Contemporary mottled sheep, spine gilt (leather rubbed and slightly chopped off at the tail of the spine, manuscript verso of the front free leaf). Jacques Boileau (1635 - 1716), a theologian at the Sorbonne and brother of Nicolas Boileau, was described by Voltaire as "un esprit bizarre qui a fait des livres bizarres" ("a peculiar mind who wrote peculiar books"). He published a handful of books in duodecimo format, each bearing different Dutch and German false imprints. Not in Barbier or Brunet.
