Friedrich Solomon Krauss was one of the pioneers of sexology. He began in 1904 with the publication of his Anthropoyteia series, a continuation started under the name Kryptadia folklore collection. He published largely uncensored material and was thus an enemy of romanticism in folklore. In his "lecture on the introduction to psychoanalysis" Freud calls the anthropopyteia "an irreplaceable source work for everything concerning the sexual life of the people".
