Biography of America's seventh president, including the eulogy delivered at his 1845 funeral by George Bancroft. Illustrated with engraved plates. Brown blind stamped cloth with gilt spine lettering, tissue-protected frontis portrait, 397 pages plus publisher's ads. Covers badly worn and chipped at the extremities, formerly detached spine fabric reglued, with several horizontal closed tears but little surface loss, good hinges, firm text block, extensive foxing to frontis and title page, pages otherwise quite clean with mainly light scattered foxing, heavier toward the beginning and end of the book, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

New York & Auburn: Miller, Orton & Co., 1857. A popular biogreaphy of "Old Hickory" edited by the prolific historian John Stilwell Jenkins (1818-1852). This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of a Later Printing - "eleventh thousand" - of the First Edition, which (perhaps) was first published in 1848. Includes the Eulogy delivered in 1845 by George Bancroft. 397 pages with 9 pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Brown cloth binding, blind-stamped, with a gilt figure of Jackson on a horse waving his hat. Clean and readable text, although foxed throughout. The FFEP has been removed. Corners bumped and just worn-through; the foot of the spine has a 1-1/2" tear. No dustjacket. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No Jacket.
