About This Item

New York: Disney Editions. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. (c.2001). First Edition. Hardcover. (price-clipped) [no significant wear to book, but there is a Christmas gift inscription on the ffep; the jacket is very nice, with just a touch of surface handling wear, downgraded from Near Fine only because of the price-clipping]. (B&W and color photographs and artwork) A history of Disney animation, as seen through the careers of the studio's legendary Nine Old Men -- "nine unique personalities [who] explored, expanded, and influenced character animation and moviemaking over the course of fifty years, consistently raising the bar by which the art form continues to be judged. [This book] explores their individual relationships with Walt [Disney] and with each other, their artistic breakthroughs and failures, the rivalries, and studio politics." The Nine -- now all gone, alas -- were: Les Clark, Marc Davis, Ollie Johnston, Milt Kahl, Ward Kimball, Eric Larson, John Lounsbery, Woolie Reitherman, and Frank Thomas. ****NOTE that an additional shipping fee will be requested for international shipping of this heavy book, or for Priority Mail service to U.S. destinations.
