(Counter-Culture)

People's Yellow Pages.

Cambridge, MA: Vocations for Social Change, November 1971.

Sparsely but appropriately illustrated throughout.

Large 4to., [ii]125 pp.; self-wrappers, overall light staining but complete. Ink annotation in outer margin of front cover.

Second edition (revised, updated)

Apparently the FIRST putting together of a "People's Yellow Pages" by a group that describes itself as "anti-profit": an alphabetical inventory detailing many groups, legal services, support organizations, and everything else one would be needing to know about coming out of the various movements from the late 1960s. Topics include abortion, assassination, bio-rhythm, coffee houses, communes, draft counseling, drugs, ecology, food cooperatives, group therapy and child care, help crisis, liberation struggles, mental health, nonviolence, political science, prisons, radicals, resistance, sensitivity training, spirituality, tenant's rights, war crimes, welfare, &c. OCLC locates one copy only (Emory Univ) of this specific printing, but later editions were issued through 1973.

About BATTLEDORE LTD

Founded in 1988, Battledore has been promoting children's books and related references/bibliographies through catalogues, by direct mail, online internet sales and special exhibitions, including the annual ABAA Antiquarian Rare Books Fair in New York City (Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street). Since 2002 we have maintained a "by appointment" store front gallery in Kingston NY that is fully operational. For scheduling a visit to discuss collection development, please email us at battledore@mail.com. The President of Battledore Ltd has represented Maurice Sendak as liaison for private collectors and institutions worldwide from 1970 thru 2003 and continues to maintain a fine inventory of his original artwork along with curated selections of original illustration art for children's books by other well-recognized artists and illustrators.
