About This Item
Edinburgh: Richard Cameron, 1896. Leather. Fine. 7.5" x 5.5". None. A declaration of the doctrines of the so called 'Protesters', a body of Scottish Presbyterians who objected to the 1820 Basis of Union between the two main branches of the secession. This is the fourth edition, published late in the same century, "chiefly, because of the imperishable worth of the doctrines which it vindicates." The protesters by then were perhaps a diminished force, but as is stated in the Prefatory Note "Loyalty to Christ means fidelity to His truth, without regard to tits popularity, or its inconvenience to the aspirations of personal ambition." In quarter morocco with gilt lettering to the spine. Externally lovely, with almost no shelfwear. Internally clean and bright throughout, and firmly bound. Fine
