No jacket. blue cloth covers with silver lettering. Wear to edges and spine. Spine is somewhat sun faded. Solid binding but has a visible split in the back inside the back cover. Clean interiors pages. Previous owner's name written on first page. 342 indexed pages. 6.5" X 9" X1.5" 12 color plates reproduced from Audubon's "Birds of America:. Includes additional black and white illustrations by James MacDonald. Biography following the life of John James Audubon from the time he was adopted as a child and went by the name Jean-Jacques Fougère Audubon, to his immigration to the US, and his eventual work on "Birds of America". The author's note in the back includes bibliography and information on how she resolved conflicts between sources.
