New York: Bernhardt Wall, 1920. Third State. Hardcover. Orig. brown cloth and brown boards with watercolored title label (possibly from the original wrapper). Near fine. Unpaginated. 28 x 21 cm. Twenty-one etched plates with tissue guards. Signed by wall and numbered "copy no. 12" in his hand on title page. The half title states "Limited to 50 copies," and Bernhardt's introduction notes, "Big business is fast butting in on the outskirts of the Village. Soon the Montmarte of America will be a mere memory." Pencil note 'Etched Printed Bound by Bernhardt Wall Dec 31 1921" and signed by him. This third state printed 1921. The etchings depict Greenwich Village buildings, characters, and street life. "An interesting pictorial presentation of 'the Monmartre of America' an area in Manhattan long frequented by authors, artists, and students"-- WEBER p.31. Nick to backstrip head.
