Paris, 1916. Drawing. Conte on paper. Signed in conte.<br/> <br/> Haunting study of a young girl, with side profile and lip studies. Foxing, toning, small tears in the margins, otherwise in good condition. Theophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923) was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. He was politically engaged and collaborated with anarchist and socialist groups. Frequently referred to as just Steinlen, he is best known for his 'Chat Noir' advertisements for the cabaret of the same name.<br/> <br/>
