No place:: Alvin Staufer,, 1965.. First Edition. Hardback quarto. Black cloth stamped in gilt. 351 pages illustrated by photographs, with rosters, engineering detail, company history. A very nice look at the motive power of the C & O in the mid-Atlantic and Appalachian landscape. A library stamp on top edge, but no other library marks on either book or jacket. However the binding is generally well shaken with library reinforcement of the hinges. Covers moderately worn with a light but obvious stain at top front. Title page irregularly toned. Foredge wavy but no damp staining. The jacket generally rubbed, modestly worn at tips and spine ends with minimal loss of material, and more than price clipped -- about two square inches roughly torn out of top front flap. Reasonably attractive and quite useable, but not a looker.
