New York: A.L. Burt Company, 1929. Reprint. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus. illustrated by Baroness Katharina Dombrowski and with photographs by the author. Blue cloth over boards, title stamped and decorations stamped orange and black onto upper board and spine, 8vo (8-1/2 inches tall), pp. xxiv, frontis, Appendix, illustrated with B&W photographic plates, illustrated endpapers. Volume with light edge wear, traces of soil to text block edges, a few minor spots of discoloration to cloth at spine - probably from binders glue and a small bookseller's tag at foot of rear pastedown. DJ with light soil to bottom panel, two corners nicked, a tiny stain at foot of spine panel verso and a small closed tear/crease at foot of front panel. The story of the noted soldier, explorer and cinema expert's travels in Africa while following the religious rites and customs of a single African tribe for a full year.
