About This Item
1961. BAKER, Henry A. THE LEGAL SYSTEM OF ISRAEL. London: Sweet & Maxwell/ NY: Oceana Publications Inc., [1961]. 8vo., blue cloth in dust jacket; 132 pages. First English/American Edition, with another edition published in Tel Aviv the same year. This English/American Edition, however, is harder to find. Baker was a Relieving President for District Court in Jerusalem and a professor at Hebrew University there. Signed presentation from Baker on the front endpaper, to a fellow justice: "To Reuben Lurie with the compliments of the author. Henry A. Baker. President District Court, Jerusalem, Israel 5/10/64." Reuben Levi Lurie was a Justice of the Suffolk County Superior Court in Boston. With the bookplate of Michael L. Abraham on the front pastedown. Very Good (covers nice; contents clean & tight; small "4.2" in ink (old price, call number?) on front endpaper); some browning edges, few short tears & little edgewear) to a very fragile d/j. $85.00.
