David Bushnell was credited with having created the first ever submarine used in combat whilst he was studying at Yale. By Henry Larcom Abbot. Abbot was a military engineer and officer in the United States Army. He also wrote a selection of works about the Panama Canal, as well as serving as a consultant for the locks on the Canal.
