Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout. Cracking to gutters of a few pages with exposed binding. Minor pencil inscription to front free endpaper, and pen marking to front pastedown. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends with splits. Mild sunning to spine and edges. Scuffing and light marking overall.

D. Appleton-Century Company, 1938. Hardcover. Good++/Fair. Hardcover. Maroon cloth boards with title on front cover and spine in white. White on spine is chipping away. Oxidized endpapers and text pages. Cracked hinge. Tired dust jacket is torn and tape repaired, soil and rubbing. Lower third of jacket spine missing. Protective mylar helps.
