London: Tinsley Brothers, 1869. First edition. Leather. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. The complete three volumes of Charles H Ross' novel A London Romance. The first edition of this novel. From the library of Julian Goldsmid, a British lawyer, businessman and Liberal politician. He sat in the House of Commons between 1866 and 1896. He inherited Somerhill House, Tonbridge, Kent upon the death of his father. These books are from the Somerhill library as indicated from the bookplates to front pastedowns. Julian Goldsmid's name label to front boards. This novel was written by Charles Henry Ross, an English writer and cartoonist. It follows his popular Pretty Widow. He wrote six novels in total ranging from Gothic 'penny dreadfuls' to light romances. In half calf bindings with gilt stamped detailing to spines. Prior owner's name label pasted to front board of both volumes. Externally, smart with just some rubbing to the head and tail of spines as well as to the raised bands.
