London: The Crime Club, Collins, 1952. [Modern Literature] VINTAGE HARDCOVER REPRINT. Octavo (19 x 12cm), pp.188. Publisher's blue cloth lettered in gilt to spine, typographic dust-jacket with printed price of 2/- to front cover and spine. Toning to edges of textblock and pages, rubbing to gilt, rolling and bumping to spine and corners, soiling to cloth, 1.5 x 2cm chip to crown of jacket spine, 2.5cm tear to base, wearing to edges, sunning to spine. Very good. Hercule Poirot is a passenger on board a flight from Paris to Croydon. Some time before landing, one of the passengers, a moneylender named Madame Giselle, is found dead. Initially, a reaction to a wasp sting is postulated, but Poirot spies the true cause of death: a poison-tipped dart, apparently fired from a blowpipe. It becomes clear that the victim has been murdered. This novel was first published in 1935 by Collins, and this later, vintage reprint was published in 1952.
