Senator Mike Gravel , 1969. SIGNED Typed Letter, dated July 10, 1969, sent to W. Carl Jackson, The Pennsylvania State University - " Dear Mr. Jackson, I wanted to draw your attention to the unique communications experiment in bringing the Apollo 11 live telecasts to Anchorage. This will be the first direct intercontinental link to Alaska, using two communications satellites in a complex distribution chain for the tests." He goes on to talk about the experiment "heralding a new era for Alaska" and how it will in particular to bring audio-visual techniques to Alaskan schools, libraries, hospitals, universities, and community centers. He finishes by by asking Jackson for future help in bringing new techniques or applications "to help accelerate this era". Mike Gravel was the colorful Democratic Senator from Alaska 1969-81.
