Description:
New York: Harper & Row, 1967. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Large octavo. 689, [1]pp. Illustrated. Red cloth gilt. Several author obituaries on front endpapers, light (and unnecessary) tape shadows at the spine ends, very good. Inscribed to one of his best-selling authors on the dedication page: "To John Kendrick Bangs Whose kind commendation of this work has been more helpful & encouraging to me than all the other notices put together, Affectionately, J. Henry. Sept. 26, 1912." Laid in is a three-page Autograph Letter Initialed ("J.H.H.") to Bangs sending page proofs (not present) for Bangs to review. Bangs receives several mentions in the text. A nice association.
