Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Visible creasing to gutter. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Light tanning to spine and edges. Light marks to boards. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and, creasing. Visible tanning to spine. Noticeable rubbing to surfaces. Scuffing to edges.

Rudolf John Frederick Lehmann (1907-1987) was an English poet and man of letters. He founded the periodicals New Writing and The London Magazine, and the publishing house of John Lehmann Limited. A member of the Bloomsbury set, Born in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, the fourth child of journalist Rudolph Lehmann, and brother of Helen Lehmann, novelist Rosamond Lehmann and actress Beatrix Lehmann, he was educated at Eton and read English at Trinity College, Cambridge. He considered his time at both as ""lost years"". This book traces his life up until the outbreak of the 2nd world war.
