Very good+ in 3/4 red calk and pink cloth covered boards with five raised bands on the spine with two black leather labels with gilt text and gilt decorations in the compartments. The end sheets are marbled paper and the top edge of the text block is gilt. A 12mo of 7 1/4 by 5 inches with the leather worn through over the tips of the boards and the leather is rubbed at the head and heel of the spine. 172 pages of text. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 20 plates and small engraved vignettes at the head of each story. A collection of seven short stories including: With The Main Guard, The Drums of the Fore and Aft, The Man Who Was, The Courting of Dinah Shadd, The Incarnation of Krishna Mulvaney, The Taking of Lungungpen and The Madness of Private Ortheris.
