Description:
London: Printed for J. Walker and Co./ Printed by S. Hamilton ,Weybridge, Surrey, 1816. Leather bound. Good. 16mo. (approx. 5" x 3") [2] viii, 544 pages. Engraved frontispiece and title page. Polished calf with gilt decorated borders. Gilt decorations and title on spine. Reddish marbled end sheets. Light rubbing to leather joints. Light edge wear to the boards. Spine has light cracks. Title label corner is chipped (no loss of title). Inner front hinge partly loose. This copy has a gift inscription written on a slip of paper and pasted down on the front blank end sheet: - "E. G. Loring from his friend J(?). G. Chase Sept. 1818." Ellis Gray Loring attended Harvard University and was a co-founder of the New England Anti-Slavery Society. The front blank end sheet is near detached.
