Richmond, VA: Nos. 1-3: Carlton McCarthy & Co.; No. 4: J.W. Randolph & English, 1886. Four pamphlets: 84pp; [85]-304pp [as issued]; 64pp; 64pp. Front wrapper of No. 1 is missing, others with worn and chipped original printed wrappers. Stitched. Numbers 1, 2 and 4 are uncut. Light tanning, clean text. No. 3's title page has lost a large portion of the title. Except as noted, Very Good. A significant collection of material on the three Companies comprising the Richmond Howitzer Battalion. Most of the articles were written by its members. White's 'A Diary of the War' fills nearly 200 pages. Coulter says the "diary gives an excellent close-up account of the experiences of a member of the Richmond Howitzers, a unit of the first Virginia Artillery. White naturally gives most attention to military matters, but had much to say about the people he met."
