His Wikipedia entry notes that George Augustus Moore (24 February 1852 – 21 January 1933) "came from a Roman Catholic landed family who lived at Moore Hall in Carra, County Mayo," and after being unsuccessful in art training in Paris as a painter, he began studies in literature, having been influenced greatly by Emile Zola (and influencing in turn, James Joyce). Light brown paper over boards, oatmeal-colored cloth-backed, some bumping to spine head and foot, a couple of dings to boards, bruised but not broken tips, rubbed gilt lettering to spine. #979 of 1280 copies thus. Ffep excised, band of tanning to half-title, else, pleasingly clean and tight for its age. In VG original DJ (in clear protective cover) - light soiling, small closed tears to top edge of back cover.
