His narrative is of great interest and is one of the earliest first-hand records of many South Sea islands... this work is the source from which Edgar Allen Poe derived his famous Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. There was a subsequent edition in 1841, and then this one, all with the same pagination. Worldcat shows this to be the scarcest of the three, with only five libraries holding copies.
