Description:
London: Cassell, 1951. First edition, first printing. Published by Cassell in London, 1951. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper has some slight wear at the corners and some mild separation at the top and tail of the spine. It has been price clipped (at a 90 degree angle!). The boards are sharp at the corners and mostly bright, but the spine is slightly worn and faded. The text blocks are foxed throughout the side edge, but mostly clean at the top and bottom edges. This copy is free from previous owners ink. The true first printing, with F.351 on the copyright page. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a fine title. It follows the lives of a group of Royal Navy sailors fighting the Battle of the Atlantic during the Second World War. It contains seven chapters, each describing a year during the war.
