Missing plates: 4, 5, 10, 11, 19, 21, 23, 25, 29, 33, 35, 40, 41, 43, 45, 46, 49, 61, 64, 65, 73, 80, 82, 91, 96, 97, 99, 102, 105. The remaining 86 plates are clean and clear with exception of plate #85 having some smudged edges and creased corners not affecing the plate). Missing portfolio covers and title page. Includes title half page, a preface by Leon Moussinac and 86 loose, hand colored engraved plates. Text is in French. Printed in edition of 750 copies, this being number 91. Plates engraved by E. Doistau, printed by R. Tanburro and colored by J. Saude. Completed in print on February 20, 1931. This is a reprint of the 1827 collection. Includes a preface by Leon Moussinac.

After the original hand-coloured plates by Georges-Jacques Gatine, Nicolas Schencker and others after designs by artists Horace Vernet, Louis-Marie Lanté, Dominique Bosio, Jean-Baptiste Isabey, Dutailly, etc.
Example No. 490 of a print run of 750 numbered copies and ten copies hors commerce numbered I to X.
The plates were sold individually from 1811, then the first 104 plates were collected and published in a suite with explanatory text in 1817. A second edition was published in 1827 with an additional 11 plates (for a total of 115 plates) with 24 pages of Observations by Pierre de la Mésangère.
