This is the first book written by the former South Carolina Poet Laureate. OCLC (WorldCat) puts the date of this publication in the 1940's however internet sources put the date of printing at 1904 making this the author's first book. The reference book "Southern Writers A Biographical Dictionary" edited by Joseph Flora and others provides a date of 1904 for the printing.
