First trade edition, thus, of this splendid printing ornament sample catalogue produced by the Lanston Monotype corporation, detailing the typographic advantage of their newly re-cut steel cast type for use in decorative and embellished borders. The 19 leaves of sample papers represent the effects achievable for decorative endpapers, and binding papers using the Monotype ornaments.

Illustrated with mono printed examples of ornamental borders and panels on both sets of endpapers and from pages 5 to 67. These are followed by 19 pages of various coloured paper which have been printed with colour pattern. A beautiful book in fine condition in the publishers red cloth with gilt lettering and decorations to the spine and front board. In an early, possibly original, plain glassine wrapper which is a bit torn and creased but has done its job of protecting the book.
