Description:
London: Martin Secker, 1930. Written immediately following Lawrence's death, partly as a corrective to those who undervalued his writing. Full of appreciation not only for Lawrence's writing but for his generosity showered on friends, even when he had next to nothing himself. Very good-- (starting at back hinge but still solid, stain on lower spine, light cover wear; some foxing on the rough-cut side page edges) in poor dust jacket (soiled and edgeworn, 1" piece missing from top front panel and lower spine does not affect decorations or lettering, See scans.). Unfortunately a mistreated book but a wonderful tribute from another writer who has been inadequately appreciated. She concludes her brief book, "We must ourselves be grievously defeated if we do not regard the life of D. H. Lawrence as a spiritual victory." Interesting that the publisher's list of Lawrence's books (on the back of the dust jacket) does not include "Lady Chatterley's Lover" even though West refers to it. 1st Edition. Hard Cover.
