Paradine Publications. London. 1975. LIMITED EDITION. 8vo. (8.4 x 5.6 inches). This is copy number 78 of only 100 copies for sale (there were another 10 copies for presentation) initialled by the printer, Ridley Burnett. A fine bright copy which is a beautifully produced facsimile of the famous Kelmscott Press edition of 1893. Finely hound bound in full white limp vellum, lettered in gilt. Green silk ties which were specially woven for this edition by H. Caldicott of London. With a short booklet about the 1893 edition, again limited, numbered and this initialled by Harold Smith and Ridley Burnett. Grey paper wraps with silk tie to the hinge. The two volumes are Housed in the publishers original grey paper covered slip case. A beautiful facsimile of a beautiful edition of Shakespeare's Poems in fine condition.

Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1905. First Thus. Number 229 of 1000 copies bound and signed by the bibliographer Sydney Lee. Full vellum with gilt to spines and boards, measuring 250 x 200mm. Boards splayed, with front and rear ties lacking. Offsetting to front and rear pastedowns. Internally clean and unmarked, with illustrations and text from the Malone Collection of the Bodleian Library. Originally issued in a set of five volumes, reproducing the exceptional Malone Collection copies of Shakespeare's first editions. "With Venus and Adonis, Shakespeare launched his career as a poet. The poem is a minor epic, a genre that many poets of the time chose for their first efforts...within this genre, Venus and Adonis was so successful that it remained Shakespeare's most popular published work throughout his lifetime" (Folger).

Limited edition, copy 118 of 1000 signed by Sidney Lee in the Venus And Adonis volume. Pagination's respectively reflect Lee's Introduction and Bibliography as per titles noted: 75, 57, 55, 71, 48 with 6 page list of Subscribers. The collotype facsimile leaves of the first editions "which found no place in the first folio" [JAGGARD] of the original Shakespeare text appear following the pagination's noted previously. With half-titles, all five volumes the provenance of William Andrews Clark, Jr. together with his red leather gilt decorated and lettered bookplates on the inside front covers. The Library at UCLA bears his name. Lacks original ties, boards are splayed, endpapers toned, but all covers are bright and clean.

(Hammersmith: Kelmscott Press, 1893. Morris, William. Octavo. (vi), 216pp. One of 500 copies. Borders and initials by William Morris. Printed in Golden type in two colors. Peterson cites Sidney Cockerell's observation that this title was "one of the rarest books issued from the Press because of its popularity"; despite its relatively large edition size, copies of the Kelmscott Shakespeare remain elusive on the market even today, furthering Cockerell's declaration. This is the Garden copy, with leather book label on front paste-down. Original full limp vellum binding shows light wrinkling to lower front cover and spine head and minimal finger soiling. All terracotta-colored ties intact. Overall, a fine copy, housed in a cloth folding case. (Peterson A11).
